Thoughts and Comments About The Last Man, Part 1
Stargate's time travel episodes tend to be my favorite. Even though this particular episode of Stargate Atlantis lacks much present-day action, I enjoyed it as well. As always, the good-natured animosity between Sheppard and McKay rings true and the glimpse of the grim future for Atlanis intrigued through the obligatory setup for season five.
It's always nice to see what possible future lies in store for favorite characters. Time travel lets us glimpse grim fates without committing ourselves to the loss of key people. We see Ronon and Sam heroically sacrifice themselves to preserve the lives of others. We see Rodney give his life over to saving the future. We see romance and tragedy as beloved characters face death. And when it's all over, we know that the characters we love will be back.
These are the reasons I love time travel episodes. Those are the bits that make this episode fun to watch.
