Show Description
By traveling through an alien device known as the stargate, a team of explorers working for the US Airforce sets out to stop an enemy posing as gods from enslaving Earth.
Soldiers Jack O'Neill and Samantha Carter, and archaologist Daniel Jackson set out to discover who is behind an attack on the base where the stargate has been stored, unused, for over a year (taking up where Stargate, the movie, left off). Once they travel through the gate, the team discovers alien races and technology well beyond their comprehension. Only with the help of their new ally Teal'c will they work out an escape route, make it back to the Cheyenne Mountain Complex where the stargate resides, and begin the real fight to save the earth from the Goa'uld.
Thus Stargate SG-1 began...
With each passing season, the team continued to travel to other planets to "explore, forge alliances, defuse crises, establish trade, investigate ancient mysteries, and defend Earth from such hostile forces as the Goa'uld, the Replicators, and Ori followers.
"For eight years, from their base at the U.S. Air Force's Stargate Command in the Rocky Mountains, Jack O'Neill, Daniel Jackson, Samantha Carter, and Teal'c have braved everything that the universe has thrown at them, from interstellar war and evil twins to death and ascension.
"But changes came to SG-1 as it began its ninth year of fearless service to Earth. New faces joined the team: Cameron Mitchell assumed the role of former SG-1 leader Jack O'Neill, who took charge of Homeworld Security, while General Hank Landry took command of Stargate Command.
"As the team embarks upon its tenth year, Vala (Claudia Black), a former Goa'uld host turned freedom-fighter, joins them in their battle to defend the galaxy from the holy war of the Ori. Meanwhile, relations between the Jaffa and Earth continue to be strained by the political maneuvering of Gerak (Louis Gossett Jr.), a Jaffa leader whose rise to power has put him into conflict with Teal'c."
