Season 5 of Stargate Atlantis brings with it a few changes. Like season 4, the year will start off with a new commander of Atlantis. For those familiar with the Stargate universe and Stargate SG-1's final few seasons, Richard Woolsey is a somewhat regularly recurring face, although rarely a pleasant one.
Woolsey himself isn't all that bad, but his methods never seem to match his intentions (The Seer [Atlantis], Prototype [SG-1]). However, he has had his moments where a glimmer of humanity and intelligence show through, although it's usually only after the mistakes have already been made (The Scourge [SG-1], Inauguration [SG-1]).
I gave Rodney McKay a chance, and although he's still as annoyingly know-it-all as always, I do love the character for making me care anyway. I'm willing to give Woolsey the same chance.
